| In this paper, the implementation of an MPEG‑2 Transport Stream parser for a multi‑format IP set‑top box based on a TMS320DM641 Digital Signal Processor (DSP) is presented. Currently, the parser supports MPEG‑2, MPEG‑4 and H.264 video streams as well as MPEG‑2 layers I, II and III, MPEG‑4 AAC, and AC3 audio streams. Moreover, new stream types can be easily supported. The parser source code has been written in C language and has been optimized to speed up the execution in the target DSP. Simulation tests have been performed with actual video and audio DVDs and digital TV streams. Moreover, it has been integrated in a multi‑format IP set‑top box prototype based on a TMS320DM641 DSP and real‑time tests have been performed with excellent results. | |
