In this work weighted sound reduction index (Rw) calculations for different damping conditions were made. The mechanical properties of a real plasterboard, of thickness 11 mm and density 1200 Kg/m3, were used for simulations. Using the results of earlier work on the Differential Limen (DL) of perception on changes of sound insulation, it is shown that two curves for the sound reduction index of plasterboard, separated by 1 DL, have identical values of Rw. The work also shows that an increase of 3 DL is necessary to obtain a significant change in Rw. | |
