Wind farm installations relatively near radar systems may cause unwanted clutter returns. Normal operation of these radars is severely affected by wind turbine clutter backscatter. As a consequence of wind millpsilas blades movement, wind turbine clutter Doppler spectrum is wide and fluctuates. Thus, conventional clutter filtering techniques are useless. In this work a complete statistical characterization of C-band experimental wind turbine clutter datasets is performed. This is the first step towards the development of suitable wind turbine clutter mitigation techniques. | |
