In the last years the advance in different robust electronic voting systems has not had special impact in the form and way that the citizens participate in the political decisions. These systems, based on advanced cryptographic techniques, often are oriented to their use in classic electoral processes where, depending on the country, usually appear different problems that must be solved. One of the most common problems is to achieve social acceptance. This paper justifies the use of electronic voting systems proposing new settings in order to stimulate citizen participation. The article gathers a sociological study made in Spain at national, autonomic and local level, analyzing the more interesting factors and scenes for the use of the electronic vote and their influence in the increase of the citizen participation. This article contributes with a multidisciplinary approach incorporating a technical solution, platform PARTICIPA, which make easy the citizen participation in the political decisions, including the new analyzed settings. | |
