It seems to be crucial for elite fencers to determine the point on which they have to focus their sight in order to obtain the best information about the location and movements of the attacker. This aspect has not been clarified yet and it has high variability even among fencers of the same training group. Following a methodology similar to that used by Ripoll et al. with members of the boxing French team (1995: Human Movement Science, 14, 325¿349), we tried to determine the area that provides fencers with the most relevant information about the attacker¿s action. | |
