The increasing use of numerical control in the design of traditional joints in timber structures demands a better knowledge of the forces transmitted in this type of joints. Particularly, our analysis focuses on dovetail joints between floor joists and beams. The stress-strain state of these joints is analysed and different geometries are discussed in order to better know the failure mechanisms of these joints and to make suggestions for the design of this type of joint. | |
