Mistuning can dramatically increase the forced response of a bladed disk. Accurate simplified methods are required in order to understand and quantitatively predict the effect of mistuning. In this paper we apply a simplified model, the Asymptotic Mistuning Model, which is derived directly from the full mistuned bladed disk model using an asymptotic expansion that exploits the frequent smallness of the mistuning and the damping. We quantitatively compare the results of this simplified model with those from the numerical simulation of the complete mistuned bladed disk, and we also emphasize the information about the key mechanisms involved in the vibration of mistuned cyclic structures that this simplified methodology provides. | |
