A new method is developed in order to calculate the eigenstates of a classically chaotic system, thus establishing a direct connection between quantum objects (the eigenfunctions of the system) and the classical structures that suppport them (the manifolds of the unstable periodic orbits). This method has been successfully applied to obtain the first 317 eigenfunctions of a quartic oscillator using a set of scar functions constructed over 18 unstable periodic orbits. | |
