| The recently finished DIGMAP European Project: ¿Discovering our Past World with Digitised Historical Maps¿ from the R&D e-Contentplus programme of the European Commission (EC) was a cooperative project between five European countries. The poster presented is graphically representing how it succeed in the development of an easy solution for indexing, searching and browsing in the European collections of digitized historical maps with the support of multilingual geographic gazetteers, based on standard and open data models. These results will be useful for local digital map libraries or as interoperable components for wider and distributed systems in the Spatial Data Infrastructure (SDI) framework, promoting the Cartographic Heritage. | |
