The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of four different sources of plan protein (pea concentrate, sunflower, gluten meal and soybean meal+fish meal) on growth, water quality, body composition and plasma cortisol in 96 male Nile tilapia (initial weight±sd: 37.5±5.6 g). Fish fed pea grew more than the other treatments, while no statistical differences were found regarding water quality (although there is a trend to have lower fluoride and magensium levels with gluten meal), body composition and plasma cortisol. These results support the use of pea concentrate as replacement protein source for soybean and fish meal (commercial diets) without an apparent effect on other parameters. | |
