Abstract

| Since their discovery, interest in metamaterials has grown explosively. Some years have passed since the emergence of the metamaterials has proved to be exceptionally promising for both research and applications. The field of these novel materials in antennas is still in a period of investigation and expansion, where novel contributions can be made. This paper parts fundamentally from the necessity to find new materials and structures improving the fundamental properties of antennas. This paper allows extending the knowledge of the analysis, design and operation of metamaterial structures to contribute and propose possible solutions that help to improve the antenna performances using these novel structures. An overview of four practical applications of the metamaterial in antennas is presented in this paper. | |
