Advanced human-computer interfaces involving gesture recognition and tangible devices are becoming more prominent. Such interfaces enable the user to interact naturally with smart environments. In this paper two handbased interfaces are described and evaluated for interaction and navigation in a virtual environment that simulates ambient assisted living tasks. The interface performs visual tracking of the human hand and gesture recognition. The second interface makes use of an Android-based portable terminal. Experiments show that the two interfaces provide intuitive interaction modalities for simulated environments. | |
