With the continuing aversion of the society to failures and disasters in construction projects and the augmented promotion of technical standards and innovative contract procedures focused on performance-based approach rather then the prescriptive one, there is a strong need to integrate the risk management. The new challenges in geotechnical engineering are going hand in hand with other areas of construction project, as it is seen in the ultimate expert recommendation of GeoCouncil workshop held in 2006. After examining the ways of how the geo-professional can influence ¿Better, Faster, and Cheaper¿ projects, a group of 50 geo-professionals managed to find recommendations for dealing with geo-risk management, which included a development of project risk register for every project. The article presents the Integrated Methodology for Geotechnical Risk Identification (IMRIG), results of the analysis of existing standardized risk registers and introduces several modifications on its format including practical examples. The risk communication throughout the geotechnical project development is also discussed. | |
