Forests play an important role in carbon capture, and models are valuable helps for quantification. Due to this, several methods and models have been developed to assess the baseline of carbon sequestration. The simulation model CO2FIX v.3.1 was used for the estimation of the carbon capture of pine-oak mixed forest. This forest, widespread in central and southern Mexico, is responsible for 80% of the native forest timber in Mexico. The focus was made on the Sierra Juarez region, in northern Oaxaca. Products from forests are sometimes the only income source for communities living there. | |
