The linear stability of a weakly ionized and homogeneous dusty plasma under the perturbations of the grain charge are analyzed. The model considers the huge ¿uctuations of the dust charge that produce large perturbations in the local plasma potential a¿ecting the local ionization rate [1,2]. The multi¿uid dimensionless equations are scaled using the time and length scales for elastic collisions between electrons and neutral atoms [2] and a general dimensionless dispersion relation is obtained from the linearized transport equations. The e¿ects of the di¿erent charge production rate terms in both, the stable and unstable branches of the dispersion equation for the instability are evidenced. Finally, the consequences for similar situations in the dusty plasma atmosphere at Mars [3,4] and other solar system planets are also discussed. | |
