"The most recent complex payload architectures and new satellite communication technologies have raised the operational margins in link budget. The advanced coding modulation schemes used in Digital Video Broadcasting- Satellite 2 (DVB-S2) standard improves bandwidth efficiency at the expense of an increase in the impairments caused by the nonlinearities effects of power on-board amplification. In addition to this, the interferences produced by multibeam systems are not negligible. To reduce the margin and improve the power efficiency of the payload an accurate characterization of these impairments is needed. The aim of our simulator is to study the effect of the different interferences sources in detail and characterize them by the system end-to-end Carrier to Interference relation (C/I). Modular philosophy allows adding or changing subsystems easily or studying them one by one. Cross-correlation between input and output assessment is the powerful method chosen to evaluate the C/I relation." | |
