When a population that we are interested in keeping pure is genetically contaminated by another one, we have to carry out a desintrogression process to recover the original genetic background. In this work we simulated several scenarios in which we tried to eliminate undesired information from a population using biallelic unique markers by selecting as parents those individuals with less exogenous influence (i.e. carriers of less foreign alleles). The success of the method depends on the number of markers used and the level of introgression, but in most cases markers helped to reach a great depuration. However the strategy also increases the inbreeding coefficient of the population, so it is recommended to be used just a few generations and keep on managing by optimizing the contributions to minimize coancestry. | |
