The European Union has launched the ALFA programme to contribute to the economic and social development of Latin America and the more balanced development of the society, through cooperation between higher education institutions of the EU and Latin America. The overall objective of the 36 month action is the improvement and harmonisation of the higher education in the field of Animal Science at Masters level in four Latin American countries (Argentina, Bolivia, Mexico, Peru) using internationally recognised standards. In a first step, each university did a self-evaluation of their current curricula. In a second phase an external review process was started to identify possible synergies between the different universities. The development of joint on-line courses was identified as a first step for further cooperation, joint or double degrees are envisaged in the future. | |
