A conceptualdesignofaDEMOfusionreactorisbeingdevelopedunderthe Spanish BreedingBlanket Technology Programme: TECNO FUS basedonaHe/LiPbdualcoolantblanketasreferencedesignoption. The followingissueshavebeenanalyzedtoaddressthedemonstrationoftheneutronicreliabilityof this conceptualblanketdesign:poweramplificationcapacityoftheblanket,tritiumbreedingcapability for fuelself-sufficiency,powerdepositionduetonuclearheatinginsuperconductingcoilsandmaterial damage (dpa,gasproduction)toestimatetheoperationallifeofthesteel-madestructuralcomponentsin the blanketandvacuumvessel(VV).Inordertooptimizetheshieldingofthecoilsdifferentcombinations of waterandsteelhavebeenconsideredforthegapoftheVV.Theusedneutronsourceisbasedonanaxi- symmetric 2Dfusionreactionprofileforthegivenplasmaequilibriumconfiguration.MCNPXhasbeen used fortransportcalculationsandACABhasbeenusedtohandlegasproductionanddamageenergy cross sections. | |
