Abstract
Microfinance is considered as effective and powerful tool for poverty eradication and women empowerment in developing countries. It helps poor by facilitating the access to financial resources; and providing a better life condition by increasing the household revenues and job creation for entrepreneurial poor. Existing literature about microfinance sector in Eastern and Southern Asia, as well as Latin America is somewhat rich, while this sector in Middle East and North African region (MENA) is merely studied and demands more investigations. The objective of this paper is trying to review the literatures and current findings about this sector in the MENA region.
