The following can be mentioned amongst the applications of the group\u00bfs research: (1) decision support assistants for diabetic patients, and (2) navigation and driving assistants. The first is intended to ensure a healthy lifestyle and promote well-being at all ages (ODS 3), while the second attempts to promote sustainable industrialisation and foster innovation (ODS 9), under the umbrella of the research challenges, \"Health, demographic change and well-being\" and \"Economy, society and digital culture\". The Smart Control Group focusses its research activity on the application of advanced algorithms and artificial intelligence techniques to ensure safe autonomous navigation of vehicles and robots, and the interaction of robots with humans. The group's activities cover research and innovation in various fields, such as fuzzy logic, combinational optimisation, robot navigation and social robotics.<\/p>\n
