In 2021 our group was made up of 34 people with various profiles: 5 Professors, 8 Doctorates, 20 researchers and 1 technician. The Optical Engineering Group is multi-cultural, with members from 3 nationalities, and works closely with industry on research projects.<br\/>\n                <\/span>\n            <\/p>\n            <p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin-bottom: .0001pt; line-height: normal;\">\n                <span style=\"font-size: small; font-family: verdana,geneva;\">The group's researchers are co-inventors of around one hundred patents and make huge efforts to transfer technology to the industry. engineering, and to the industry in general, with highlights being the GreenCampus Pilot for street lighting and the GreenLabs Pilot for energy consumption management, amongst others.<br\/>We have a laboratory for optical profiling, an electronics laboratory, a software laboratory, a laboratory for testing pilots for energy efficiency in buildings, and virtual and augmented reality laboratories.<br\/>The group's work has been recognised with many awards, such as the Treelogic innovative spirit awards 2009, 2010; KNK Young project Award 2010; Kidger-Moore Optics Achievement Award (2011); ComputerWorld Honors Prize 2011; Best Paper Prize COMSOL, 2012; ener-TIC smartcities prizes 2013 and 2014, and smartindustries, 2016; The IoT Interoperability Hackathon-symbIoTe 2018, and EMEA Elastic Search Award Honoree, Cluster Award category 2020. <br\/>Moreover, the lecturers, Juan Carlos Mi\u00f1ano and Pablo Ben\u00edtez, were awarded the Conrady Award from the SPIE 2010, the UPM Research Prize 2012, the Fraunhofer-Burley Prize from the Optical Society 2014 and the Conrady Award from the SPIE
