We are a multi-disciplinary group of around 15 people working since 2000 on research and teaching about biomedical imaging acquisition and analysis, in close collaboration with clinical groups.<\/span><\/p>\r\n

We are at the HTSE for Telecommunications and the R&I Information Processing and Telecommunications  <\/span>Center <\/span>(IPTC) at the UPM. Some of our most significant results are the proposal and validation of techniques helping early diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases<\/strong>, in collaboration with the G. Marañón Hospital and the company Siemens-Acuson; systems for planning and dosage of intraoperative radiotherapy<\/strong> (with the company GMV and the G. Marañón Hospital, amongst others); a system to determine the epileptic focus<\/strong> in image-guided surgery (with the Hospital Clínic de Barcelona and transferred to the company QuBioTech), and machine learning systems for glaucoma screening<\/strong> based on OCT images (collaboration with Parc de Salut Mar and Radboud University Medical Center). We have also developed machine learning algorithms for tissue and vascular profiling in pulmonary diseases<\/strong> (collaboration with Brigham and Women's Hospital - Harvard Medical School). The main aim is to improve the provision of health services with advances in biomedical imaging technologies, by giving innovative solutions to real clinical or biological problems.<\/p>\r\n

To do so, we work on developing new instrumentation, algorithms, processes and systems that facilitate progress in biology and medicine, and improve clinical practice and healthcare. We also work on the application of engineering-based experimental and analytical methodologies to get new insights into biomedical processes.<\/p>","resultados_protegidos":"
