\n We are a multi-disciplinary team of 20 people from three schools at the UPM: HTSE for Telecommunications, HTS for Engineering and Telecommunications Systems and HTSE for IT.<\/span>\n <\/p>\n

\n Our work and teaching ability is reflected in the high number of students, at degree and doctorate level, who are backed up by our participation in projects funded by various public bodies (European Commission, and National and Regional Programmes) and private companies. All this, along with our participation in various groups, thematic networks and associations, has enabled us to establish alliances with other Spanish and European research centres.<\/span>\n <\/p>\n

\n Our experience in different fields of research enables us to follow up on multidisciplinary focusses, such as combining data mining with the growing interest in semantics and the web of data in creating semantic discovery of directories of services or companies (FP7 Omelette, FP7 Romulus and Episteme projects), use semantic searches in the fields of e-learning and musical libraries combined with idea management systems (Semusici, Cantiga, Musiteca, eContent Harmos, eContentPlus Variazioni and Resulta projects), sentiment and emotional analysis (FP7 EuroSentiment , MixedEmotions and Financial Twitter Tracker projects) or facilitate the search and visualisation of improved geographical data with the Web of Data (FP7 SmartOpenData). Some of the fields where we have used data mining and Big Data techniques are, amongst others, security (AZVigia, VulneraNET and SIMPA projects), and distributed diagnostics on telecommunications networks using probabilistic reasoning techniques (in alliance with Telef\u00f3nica). We also have extensive experience in Agent Systems and Agent-based Social Simulation, and their application in the fields of Smart Environment (THOFU project) and emergency management, combining smart technologies and wev2.0 (Calista, IMPROVISA and T2C2 projects).<\/span>\n <\/p>\n

\n Finally, it is also worth pointing out the that the research results are used to improve the teaching\/learning process in an Educational Innovation line within the Intell-Edu Educational Innovation group.<\/span>\n <\/p>\n
