\n The Laboratory is in the the HTS for IT Engineering. It consists of professors and post-doctorates with research experience in the field of databases, big data, data management, distributed systems and fault tolerance. \n Our group takes a highly active part in European projects in the Framework Programme (H2020). The DSL has coordinated five European Projects (CumuloNimbo, CoherentPaaS, LeanBigData, STREAM, ADAPT). The LeanBigData project, led by the DSL, was nominated the Best European project coordinated by a Madrid organisation<\/a> by the MadrI+D foundation. The DSL is also involved in Big Data PPP and in EIT Digital activities, such as the masters in data science<\/em> and innovation and technology transfer work. The Laboratory is also funded by national (MINECO) and regional (CAM) agencies via participation in competitive tenders, as well as by private funding. \n The DSL has been working on ultra-scalable, highly available databases and data managers within the context of cloud computing, big data and data science for more than 20 years.\n \n \n Our research interests cover various aspects of distributed systems' theory and practice with a heavy emphasis on scalability, consistency and high availability.\n <\/p>\n

\n \n LeanXcale is a spin-off from the laboratory that markets some of the research results, in particular an ultra-scalable database with traditional support (ACID) and full SQL. LeanXcale receive the \n \"Best Young SME\"\n award for the most innovative start-up from the European Commission's Innovation Radar\n .\n \n <\/p>\n
