This research paper describes an investigation into the influence of piece length on ultrasound wave velocity and presents the results of testing 160 specimens of 45 x 145 mm cross-section structural timber of Scots pine, Pinus sylvestris L. Furthermore, the specimens were tested for bending to compare the values of stiffness obtained from this test with the results estimated using the non-destructive method. For structural coniferous sawn timber pieces, the influence of specimen length on velocity is shown, and a strong relationship between the static modulus measured from the bending test and the dynamic modulus obtained by applying ultrasound technique is confirmed. | |
