Abstract
We have developed a system to advise the driver about the optimal speed at all times according to criteria of optimization of consumption and travel time, and respecting the legal and safe limits. The system is mainly aimed at vehicles in fixed routes and schedules. To calculate the optimum speed, the system is based on knowledge of the digital map and the speed limits of the sections that are being circulated. Dynamic programming is used as optimization method, which involves developing: - A digital map of the road with the slopes and speed limits. - A model of vehicle. - A map of consumption considering operating situations in which you can find the vehicle and must contain all the possible transitions between states. - Defining a cost function that includes multicriteria such as fuel consumption and travel time, weighted by factors depending on their relative importance.
