This paper describes an experience with methodologies adapted to the European Area of Higher Education that was carried out during the academic year 2010-11 in a Linear Algebra Course for Engineers. The milestones of this experience are guided by the competences to be acquired by the students. Self Learning, Team Work and Use of Technology have been enhanced. For developing the experience, some DERIVE tutorials about orthogonal transformations have been provided for students¿ autonomous work. After running and understanding the tutorials, they worked in small groups (2-3 students) and have solved several proposed exercises. Finally we have launched a competition aimed at the best students for developing a project about application of orthogonal transformations to a real problem. A brief summary of the winner project is included. | |
