Abstract
The EuropeanSpallationSource-Bilbao(ESS-Bilbao)projectplanstobuildanacceleratorfacility compliantwiththeESS-ABrequirementswhichwillbeabletodriveseveralexperimentalstations for researchpurposesinvolvingintenseprotonbeamswithcurrentsupto75mA,50MeVoffinal energy,1.5msofpulselengthandupto50Hzrepetitionrate.Theacceleratorwillalsodriveacompact neutronsourcewhichwillprovideusefulneutronbeamstocarryoutexperimentsonmoderator optimization,neutronopticsdevicesandgeneralneutroninstrumentationaswellaspreparationwork for experimentstobecarriedoutbyneutronbeamusersatthelargefacilities.
