In this paper, our aim is to give a state-of-art review for modeling of photovoltaic diffusion. Our objectives to argue the evolution of diffusion of innovation theory and its alternatives; give a taxonomical review of modeling methodologies and discuss how the studies on diffusion of photovoltaic (a technology to convert electricity from sunshine) are benefiting from the wealth of theory and models of diffusion of innovations.
