Mutualism is a biological interaction mutually beneficial for both species involved, such as the interaction between plants and pollinators or seeddispersers. Real mutualistic communities can be understood as bipartite weighted networks and they present a nested structure as well as truncated degree and strength distributions. We have developed a simple dynamical model that simulates mutualistic networks which present both nestedness and truncated distributions assuming a direct relationship between species strength and population. We compare simulated network topology with the empirical networks from nine different datasets. | |
