Public organizations have been slow in the utilisation of cloud services compared to private ones, especially in Europe. Some reasons for their reluctance to use cloud services are similar to the ones of private companies. For example, security and data protection, but others are more specific to public organizations, such as aversion to risk and the fact that current offerings are more focused on the requirements of private organisations. In the next sections some of these problems are presented and some possible solutions. There is not a silver bullet for cloud services in public organisations, but some models adapt better to public organizations? requirements than others. We will suggest what could be done for public organizations to attain the main goals of cloud computing (scalability, elasticity,self-provisioning, and pay-as-you-go charging). | |
