Abstract
The aim of this work is to study the control system and the characteristics of the dynamic response of a small low-head variable speed hydro plant included in a diversion scheme with tunnel and surge tank. A model of the power plant suitable for the aim of the study is developed. Next, an experimental power plant built in the Hydraulics Laboratory is described. Several turbine measurements made in this plant are shown. Then, the control system parameters are adjusted by means of a stability analysis. Lastly, the response of the plant to some perturbations is simulated. The results of this simulation show the good performance of the plant¿s control system
