The Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) approach has been mainly practiced in primary and secondary education, where its benefits are well documented. In recent years, CLIL is also experiencing a fast growth in higher education, and more and more universities across Europe are offering courses in a foreign language, English in most cases. This study presents an innovative experience at the Technical University of Madrid. The implementation of bilingual programs requires, besides a narrow collaboration between language teachers and content specialists, an active involvement of students in the teaching-learning process. We show how Information and Communication Technology (ICT) plays a crucial role in fostering CLIL. More specifically, we discuss how ICT broadens the range of multimodal resources that can stimulate active learning, interactive strategies and proactive learning attitudes. | |
