Descripción
The main objectives of the EIRENE project were: - Move the knowledge frontline on sustainable smart cities forward, through participatory and multi-stakeholder informed research. - Bridge the methodological gap between the insights about needs, and potentials of considering gender in technology and engineering and, the implementation of this insight into research and innovation practice in these fields - Train a new generation of experts that will be able to lead gender mainstreaming in technological innovation and research, and orchestrate participatory methods and multi stakeholder involvement - Create a set of multi-dimensional, intersecting maps, over points where gender awareness changes the prerequisites and thus best design choices in technology and innovation, where appropriate accompanied by suggested engineering/technical solutions - Develop research based engineering, architecture design propositions that integrate the technological state-of-the-art and gender expertise. - Include multi-stakeholder and user involvement in the research and design of these propositions. - Include in this frontline action, the following science and engineering branches of fundamental relevance for SC design and realization: Architecture and City Planning; Civil Engineering, Building and Construction; Environmental Sciences and Sustainable Systems; Computer Science, Vehicle Automation, Safety and Security Sciences; Management, Product Development and Economics. - With new, original cases, contribute to the research frontline on Gendered Innovation in each of these branches, directly applicable in smart cities initiatives. - Contribute to structuring doctoral/early-stage research training by bringing together academic, professional and civil movements engaged in topics of gender in research and innovation in a structured training effort - Effectively disseminate the findings of the ESR projects and the overall results, as well as the experiences and conclusions from the process, to academic and non-academic audiences thus promoting re-use in all dimensions of science and training methods, models and results - Strengthen the case for further involvement of networks and NGOs dedicated to promoting women as stakeholders in innovation for smart cities - Identify topics for continued research Finally, EIRENE meant to: - Contribute to raising awareness, about what we together can do in Europe, women and men alike, for the creation of inclusive, sustainable and successful smart cities. This is done through the composition of the training and research program, dissemination of results, and outreach.
