A simple and approximate model for hysteresis and eddy currents in cylindrical magnetic cores is developed. The model characterizes the core by the magnetic properties of its material ($\mu$, $\psi_0$ and $\sigma$) and its geometry (perimeter and area of cross section and core length), it is simulable with common electrical simulators, like PSpice, and allows a fast and approximate computation of: both hysteresis and eddy currents power losses, impedance, flux and field. The model has been extended to parallelepipedal geometries and checked against other previous models and also by experimentation. | |
