The generalized sampling formula allows to recover the functions of a shift-invariant space from the samples of the responses to the function of s linear shift-invariant systems, sampled at the points sn. In practice, only finitely many samples are available and the truncation error arises. This error has been studied for the classical uniform sampling formula, i.e. involving only uniform samples of the function, when the generator of the shift-invariant space has polynomial decay. In many practical applications the generator of the spaces has compact support. In this case, much more can be said about the truncation error and besides, it can be easily studied for the generalized formula. In this correspondence, we obtain estimations for the truncation error of the generalized sampling formula when the generator has compact support that shows that this error has exponential decay and that the rate depends on the zeros of certain polynomial. We illustrate the obtained results with examples in splines spaces. | |
