Ionoluminescenceof?-quartzexhibitstwodominantemissionbandspeakingat1.9eV(NBOHCs)and2.7eV(STEs).TheevolutionoftheredemissionyielddoesnotshowacorrelationwiththeconcentrationsofneithertheNBOHCnorwiththatofothercolorcenters.TheblueemissionyieldcloselyfollowstheamorphizationkineticsindependentlymeasuredbyRBS/Cspectrometry.Asimpletheoreticalmodelhasbeenproposed;itassumesthattheformationandrecombinationofSTEsaretheprimaryeventandboth,thelightemissionsandthelatticestructuraldamageareaconsequencethisphenomenon.ThemodelleadstoseveralsimplemathematicalequationsthatcanbeusedtosimulatetheILyieldsandprovideareasonablefittoexperimentalkinetidata. | |
