In enterprise scenarios, multi-femtocell deployments can be carried out to improve indoor services performance. In this environment, a detailed cell planning can be made in order to optimize network performance. To solve NP-Hard optimization problems in wireless networks, several methods have been proposed, typically based in metaheuristic algorithms. In this paper, a novel genetic algorithm for optimization of multi-femtocell deployments based on a multistep fitness assessment is presented, in order to ensure the fulfillment of cost and quality constraints. Results obtained show that the proposed algorithm is able to optimize complex multi-femtocell deployments with multiple optimization variables, without a previous knowledge about the optimum number of femtocells needed to fulfill design requirements. | |
