A procedure is presented for the efficient design of microwave cavity filters on low temperature co-fired ceramic (LTCC) technology. This process is based on the fast estimate of the magnitudes which determine the frequency response of the desired filter, using an efficient mode matching (MM) analyzer, which has been specially developed for LTCC cavity structures. A parameter extractor based on Cauchy method is also developed to efficiently optimize the design. Then a short optimization process with a comercial FDTD EM-simulator is carried out to achieve the final device. A complete process design for a 4th order cavity filter at 36.8 GHz is presented, demonstrating the high reduction of time with regard to direct electromagnetic optimization using comercial FDTD EM-simulators. Finally, measurements are shown and are in agreement with EMsimulations. | |
