This paper presents the convenience for microstrip to slotline transitions on LTCC technology when feeding slot aperture antennas. A simplified existing model of such transition is studied and its utility is proven for almost any LTCC layer structure. Thereafter, the model is modified and a new one is proposed accordingly to custom designs simulation response. By means of the new model, which takes into account the coupling between both lines, a well matched transition is designed and later on modified to manage a wide band transition covering from 2GHz up to 11GHz with S11 below 20dB. | |
