A potential application of operational modal analysis is the real time calculation of stress time histories, information which is very important to reduce the uncertainty in fatigue verification and remaining fatigue life calculations. In this paper, the modal parameters of a symmetric scale model of a two story building have been identified by operational modal analysis. Then, the stresses at several points of the columns have been predicted using a methodology which combines a finite element model with the accelerations recorded at the measurement points. The predicted stresses are compared with those recorded using strain gauges. | |
