Tungsten and tungsten alloys are being considered as leading candidates for structural and func-onal materials in future fusion energy devices: High mel-ng point and thermal conduc-vity, low spuIering yield and low long-term disposal radioac-ve footprint. Very low fracture toughness, mostly associated with inter-granular failure and bulk plas-city. ¿ Addi-on of solutes (W-Re) and engineering microstructures can improve duc-lity and strength. ¿ The final goal of this work is to develop mul-scale models to understand plas-city at the finest scale, and inform engineering-level models. | |
