Abstract
This study presents an investigation into the behavior of the compressive strength of cylindrical concrete specimens mass HM-25 which contains polypropylene fiber additions. Polypropylene fibers were used at 1% and 2% by weight of cement, were subjected to rupture test compression for the maximum breaking strength, maximum strain and strain energy density contrasting results with concrete without additions. We show that the addition of polypropylene fibers in amounts of 1% to 2% by weight of cement, leads to improved mechanical properties of the concrete. Additions confer greater ductility to the concrete, increasing tenacity and delay in the appearance of cracks, which reverses in durability of the element.
