Wireless sensor networks consist of tiny sensor nodes, which act as both data generators and network relays. These sensor nodes present limited processing capabilities, so hardware support is required for many tasks. Security, a key issue in sensor networks, is one of those tasks. However, current security solutions are always supported by complex software algorithms. Therefore, in this paper we propose a chaotic cryptosystem based on Chua?s circuit, especially designed to encrypt streaming communications among sensor nodes. The proposed solution presents a robust design, which enables its implementation using hardware technologies. Moreover, an experimental validation is proposed proving that the maximum encryption error never goes up 12%. | |
