Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present the design of the radiofrequency subsystems of a ubiquitous radar in X band. This document is focused on the design of the antennas and the receiver. This paper starts with an introduction that summarizes the main topics of a ubiquitous radar what it?s necessary to understand the global system architecture. This document describes the whole antennas design process and focusing on two key aspects: isolation between antennas and their polarization. Among the different alternatives to feed the patch antennas the aperture coupled method was chosen because the relatively high achievable bandwidth. The results of the electromagnetic simulations are compared with anechoic chamber measurements. Furthermore, this document explains the receiver design process. It?s justified each component and the results of the simulations are compared with the laboratory measurements (noise figure, gain, bandwidth?).
