SESAR and NextGen are the future of the development of Air Traffic Management both in Europe and U.S., however, few works have tried to deal with the problem of assessing similarities and differences among most relevant concepts and their interoperability. This study focus on analysing the on-going actions in the formulation and implementation of the Arrival Traffic Synchronization Concept of Operations. This paper compares how the Traffic Synchronization Concept is described, managed and implemented. This review is followed by a detailed analysis of both programs based on a discussion focused on the differences and possible advantages in terms of interoperability. Thus, SESAR aims to bring together developments from itself and NextGen allows that every stakeholder is his own rule-maker. More efforts on interoperability about trajectory based operation and arrival traffic synchronization concepts must be made in order to implement SESAR and NextGen. | |
