Descripción
CO2 capture and storage is an important climate change mitigation technology and in certain fossil fuel technologies is the only solution for meeting the requirements of the 1.5?C and 2?C scenarios from both IPCC and IEA recommendations. The technology is also vital for achieving carbon-negative emissions through bio-CCS power production. In the case of solid fuels like coal and biomass, CCS is essential in achieving low CO2 emissions. Gas switching combustion (GSC) is a variant of chemical looping combustion, where the gasified and cleaned solid fuel is fed into the GSC reactor containing the catalyst that also acts as an oxygen carrier. The main advantage of it is that the oxidation and reduction stages occur in the same reactor and no solid is circulated but rather several reactors are used in batch.
