When deploying a radio link for providing Internet connection in rural areas, it is often necessary to surpass obstacles like mountains, resulting in Near-Line of Sight (NLOS) channels. In many situations, the diffraction angle is quite small. Nevertheless, the existing propagations models are based on large diffraction angles and there are some clues that they could be pessimistic. Therefore, propagation in NLOS channels should be investigated. A measurement system capable of transmitting and capturing broadband signals has been developed and signal processing techniques have been implemented to obtain attenuation by diffraction and channel response from the captured signal. A Preliminary Experiment has been accomplished, which assures that the measurement system and procedures previously described are capable of measuring NLOS channels. | |
