Under the scope of the ESA Project "Transmit reconfigurable multi-beam antenna" EADS-CASA is analysing the development of a Ka-band transmit in-orbit reconfiguragle multi-beam DRA antenna. At a first phase of the project the baseline configuration of the antenna, as well as the technology for each sub-assembly of the antenna has been chosen. Ragarding the active sub-assembly a solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) has been fixed as the baseline technology. As part of a second phase of this project a characterisation of the SSPAs is needed in order to know the necessary IBO. This paper presents the methodology to optimize this parameter and the first conclusions obtained. | |
